Welcome to the LLCC Bookstore Website!
Congratulations on enrolling for your class(es) at Lincoln Land Community College! Your next step will be to purchase your textbooks and course materials. Your LLCC Bookstore has everything you will need for your classes as required by your instructors. We will have books and materials ready for purchase starting approximately 4 weeks prior to the first day of class. You can visit us in the lower level of Menard Hall on the Springfield Campus, purchase your books at one of our Educational Service Areas in Beardstown, Jacksonville, Litchfield or Taylorville one week prior to your first class if you are taking the class there, or you can order your books online and have your books either delivered to your home or arrange to pick them up at one of our five locations across our district.
Your LLCC Bookstore is open year round and is an excellent place to stop by for a quick snack and last minute supplies. We have an ever changing variety of logo clothing and gift items at very reasonable prices. All this and a super friendly staff dedicated to helping you succeed here at Lincoln Land Community College!
Ordering Textbooks
Federal regulations require all colleges and universities to post a listing of all class materials at the time registration opens. The idea is to give the student a clear picture of all costs associated with each class. Unfortunately, many things can change between the time the class is listed and the first day of class. The teachers could be reassigned, the publishers could come out with new editions or new packages or the class could be cancelled. The LLCC Bookstore works very closely with the faculty and the publishers to keep this listing as accurate as possible. However, we strongly suggest you do not purchase any course materials until at least 30 days prior to the first day of class.
Understanding the textbook listing can be confusing! Bundles are course materials chosen by your instructor and packaged together by the publisher for an up front savings for the student. You only need to order the bundle. It will have all the components in it. The only time you would order a bundle component is if you already have other parts of that bundle. Should you be interested in ordering one or more of the components, you will need to contact the Textbook Coordinator for special ordering. This could take one to two weeks for delivery.
We suggest you do not order any item listed as optional until you have contacted your instructor. Remember, optional items have the same one week return policy as required textbooks.
Financial Aid and Textbooks
If you will be using any type of financial aid such as Pell Grants (FASFA), Scholarships, Loans, or Grants you will be able to purchase your textbooks and supplies starting 10 days prior to the first day of class and until the end of the second week of class. You may also use your financial aid to purchase books through this website during those designated times. During those times you will see financial aid listed as a form of payment and the account number it is asking for is your seven digit student ID number starting with the first zero. If you place an order for books with financial aid you must know that you have that financial aid available for books in that amount. Financial aid is first used for tuition and fees and then anything left may be used for required books and materials, so it's important to know what your budget for textbooks is before placing your order online using this method of payment.
Dropped or Cancelled Classes
Should your class be cancelled or you decide to drop your class, you will have until the end of the first week of classes to return your textbook for a full refund as long as you have your LLCC receipt and your drop slip and the book is in the same condition as when it was sold. Once access codes have been opened or scratched off they can not be returned for any credit or refund. If you miss this return date, you will need to wait until buyback at the end of the semester to sell your book or use our Campus Marketplace on this website to sell your book.
Buyback
During the week of final exams for every semester we conduct a book "Buyback". This is when we buy your used textbooks if we need them for the following semester. We usually offer anywhere between 0% and 50% of the purchase price if you purchased it from the LLCC Bookstore. You do not need a receipt for buyback. If we do not need the book for the next semester, a wholesaler is working with us to purchase your book if it has wholesale value. It is your choice to sell your book at the offered price at buyback or to keep your book as long as you purchased it. Other options to sell your books include using the "Campus Marketplace" on this website. There you will be selling to other LLCC students. You set the price and the exchange. Don't wait too long to sell your old textbooks. Publishers change editions very frequently and the value of that textbook could go to zero very quickly!
Renting your textbooks!
To see if your textbook will be available for rent, check out the textbook listing on this site under "Textbooks". If it is available for rental it will have the rental price listed under the book along with the new price. In most cases, the rental price will be slightly less than 1/2 the new price. Some books will never be added to the rental option, such as workbooks, study guides, solution manuals, and lab manuals. Textbooks that are used for two semesters or more (ADN & NUR) will also not be offered as it would be more economical for you to purchase that textbook. Textbooks associated with classes that require frequent new editions such as computer classes and coding classes will not be available in the rental program. Textbooks that come in bundles with access codes will not be offered as a rental because of the high cost of separate access codes. And some textbooks will not be offered as rentals because the faculty many feel that it is important to your program that you keep that textbook for reference.
When you rent a textbook from LLCC Bookstore you are agreeing that you will be responsible for the full replacement cost of that textbook if it is not returned on time and in good condition. You may lightly highlight in the rental book. But if the textbook shows any water damage, ripped cover or pages, missing pages, etc. you will be charged the replacement cost of the textbook. Unreturned or damaged book fees will restrict future registration, transcripts, and graduation.
All rental books are due back to the LLCC Bookstore by 4pm on Friday of the week of final exams for Fall and Spring semester and by 4pm Thursday of the week of final exams for Summer semester. Outstanding rentals will be sent to collections 30 days from the due date. These rental books have no buyback value.
